In May of 2005, a fourth Sense-Making Workshop was held at the International Communication Association (ICA) annual meeting in New York City.  The workshop's central focus centered on research design, specifically what it means to implement a methodology (in this case Sense-Making Methodology) methodologically in research practice.  A secondary focus emphasized how the implementations of methodology may facilitate or impede inter-disciplinary and inter-discourse dialogue.

An international call went out to people known to have used either some aspects Sense-Making Methodology or the entire methodological structure in their research work. Some participants were asked to provide exemplars; others were invited to provide brief literature reviews of research questions they hoped to address using Sense-Making Methodology.  These literature reviews were constructed as a basis for the workshop's working sessions on research design.

This page presents the call for participation and the précis participants prepared for the workshop.
